someone just brought this to my attention. i hadn't heard, but holy cow, it's priceless!
ina steiner of auctionbytes blogged about ebay's newest so-called extended seller protection policy.
read the comments, particularly starting with one posted by a '
John Rathert,' who made a rude and inapproprioate comment to ina and david steiner in his comment.
hilariously, '
john' wasn't smart enough to realize his ip was tracked, and david busted him. the guy is the Director of Corporate Communications for eBay!
keep reading the rest of the comments after '
john's.' the freaking director of corporate communcations of ebay also penned this little gem on a yahoo finances board:
Quote:
Seller Entitlement 29-Jan-08 11:24 am
This speaks volumes of the sellers that complain, complain, complain:
Cobb - "Now, we realize that feedback has been a two-way street, but our data shows a disturbing trend, which is that sellers leave retaliatory feedback eight times more frequently than buyers do ... and this figure is up dramatically from only a few years ago."
You didn't like my overpromised item? Wah. You didn't like my high shipping fees? Wah. I made eBay, bow to me. Wah.
straight from the horse's ... er, mouth (or should that be the other end?), the utter contempt for us, their own customers. i've known for quite a while, given their actions, that this is their corporate-level attitude towards us. but it's awfully nice to finally see bullet-proof evidence of it.
